Valerie Bertinelli posed in a two piece bikini to show off her body after losing 50 lbs!!! Valerie will celebrate her 49th birthday on April 23, and she says being able to confidently wear a two piece bikini again after nearly 30 years, is a gift to herself. She said:
"I thought, If I’m so afraid of a bikini, there’s something wrong. And so I had to get back into one!"
After about a year of exercising on her own while losing weight, primarily by walking 10,000 steps a day, she hired a personal trainer in December. Before long she was running up to five times a week. During what she calls the bikini "homestretch" the last three weeks, she trimmed her daily caloric intake from 1,700 to around 1,200, and gave up her regular "splurge" glass of champagne. "It was crunch time," she says, "like getting ready for your class reunion!"
The result? Bertinell says she is now in the best shape of her life:
"I never, ever, ever had deltoids! Oh my God, when I’m doing exercises and I see them pop out, I’m like, Yes!"

Valerie is the spokeswoman for Jenny Craig, but it was mostly Valerie that did the hardest work.
Here’s a tip for those who want to lose weight. Do aerobic exercise at least 30 to 60 minutes a day, preferably on a treadmill. Cut your meals in half, and avoid sugar entirely, especially pop or juice. Eat vegetables at lunch and dinner, and fruit, but limit the fruit to one or two a day. Drink a full glass of soy milk with each meal, and between meals if you feel hungry. Soy milk usually has unprocessed sugar that has much less impact on your body.
Soy milk also has high quality protein that will make you feel full longer, plus it doesn’t contain a bunch of other questionable ingredients that other much more expensive protein shakes have, and soy milk is cheaper. Protein shakes to lose weight usually use soy as their main source of protein. The best place to get large amounts of Kirkland brand soy milk is Costco. The vanilla tastes the best, and it goes great in coffee. However, coffee intake should be limited, since caffeine causes the body to release cortisol, a stress hormone, that can cause the body to gain weight. A lack of sleep also causes cortisol to be released. Cortisol increases blood pressure and blood sugar, and reduces immune responses.
The biggest obstacle to losing weight is hunger. Drinking soy milk with smaller meals, and drinking more soy milk when hunger strikes between meals, and after aerobic exercise, helps make losing weight a little easier. Soy milk also contains Genistein, which helps build bone density.
